Ad hoc FreeBSD Troubleshooting Best Practices

• script (which generates a file with the terminal session) is your friend and should be automatically run when you connect to a server to troubleshoot.

• tmux will allow you to preserve a session in between logins, can be named descriptively

• zfs snapshot dataset@snapshotname snapshot datasets before working on them when possible! Afterwards, you can always revert back to how it looked before you started touching things. Leaving them in there also works as a sort of log of work.
